What is Greenheart?

We are builders, designers and environmentalists. We believe in sound sustainable building, good design
and enjoyable architecture.

|
We bring many years of experience to everything we undertake. This translates into careful consideration of quality and design.
We are equally at home working in timber or masonry and have an extensive knowledge of sustainable building techniques. We welcome
projects with a social or public agenda and particularly enjoy the innovative and challenging.

What do we mean by sustainable?
|
|
If all of us are guardians of the earth's eco-system, then the construction industry, as one of the worst polluters, has a particular
responsibility.
|
|
But to go one step further: our buildings should be healthy and inspiring places in which to live and work.
|
|
|
We use FSC (Forestry Stewardship Council) approved timber, and avoid all tropical hardwoods.
(We have excellent hardwoods and softwoods of our own).
We avoid excessive use of chemicals and plastics.
We insist on high insulation standards using natural materials such as recycled newsprint and sheep's wool.
We separate and recycle waste where feasible.
We try to source local materials.
We won't use MDF or materials harmful to our, or the end user's, health.
We promote the use of traditional materials and reduce the amount of cement.
